What is the difference between a crowd control barrier and a road barrier?

Crowd control barriers are pedestrian barricades, typically steel or plastic panels that link end to end to form queue lines and event perimeters. Road barriers channelise vehicles in traffic zones. Crowd barriers focus on guiding and restraining people at events, venues and public gatherings, whereas road barriers manage moving vehicles. Choose based on whether you are controlling people or traffic.

How many crowd control barriers do I need for an event perimeter?

Divide your perimeter length by the usable width of one barrier, commonly around 2 to 2.5 metres per panel, then add spares for gates and corners. Interlocking hook-and-eye connectors let panels form continuous runs. For entry and exit points leave planned gaps. Share the perimeter length and gate count and we will estimate the panel quantity.

Are steel or plastic crowd barriers better for outdoor events?

Steel barriers are heavier, more rigid and better at restraining large or energetic crowds, making them the standard for concerts and stadiums. Plastic crowd barriers are lightweight, quick to carry and reposition, and suit queue management, exhibitions and lower-pressure lines. For dense public gatherings choose steel; for flexible, frequently moved layouts choose plastic.

Can crowd barriers be branded or fitted with signage?

Yes, many crowd control barriers accept printed scrim covers or slot-in signage panels across the front, useful for sponsor branding, directions or safety notices. Plastic barriers also come in high-visibility colours. If you plan to add banners, mention it so we can suggest models with the right frame and fixing points for your branding.
