A guided fall arrester (EN 353) travels on a fixed rigid rail (EN 353-1) or a tensioned flexible cable or rope (EN 353-2) fitted to the structure. It follows the climber and locks instantly if they fall, limiting the fall distance.
What is the difference between EN 353-1 and EN 353-2 systems?
EN 353-1 covers guided fall arresters on a rigid anchor line, such as a fixed ladder rail, giving a very short arrest distance. EN 353-2 covers guided fall arresters on a flexible anchor line, such as a tensioned cable or rope, which allows more movement but a slightly longer fall.
