What is the difference between a rescue device and a descent device?
A descent device (EN 341) lowers one or more people from height at a controlled speed, useful for evacuation and self-rescue. A rescue device (EN 1496) can additionally lift a casualty, for example to unload a jammed fall arrester before lowering. Some units combine both functions.
